How to create a healthy and effective work environment?

/The Duluth Clinic Comprehensive MS Program/

  1. I will remember to help others feel valued by praising them for their efforts whenever possible.
  2. I will treat others with respect, as I would ask to be respected.
  3. I will remember that feelings are the property of a person who expresses them, not issues to be debated or denied.
  4. I will strive to view our differences as unique and remember that they give us greater vision and strength.
  5. I will take responsibility for my feelings and behavior, admitting my imperfection when it appears and striving to improve the next time.
  6. I will allow others to make mistakes, expecting them to own up their behavior and work toward an improvement in the future.
  7. I will honor limits, rules and expectations of the work group, raising questions and offering solutions if these rules appear to be unclear, inconsistent, or out-dated.
  8. I will speak directly to a person with whom I have a concern or a conflict as soon as possible, with an intent to find a resolution.
  9. I will keep concerns or unresolved conflicts in an appropriate arena.
I will not discuss unresolved issues within my work group with anyone else at my place of employment (except in case of an unlawful behavior or a safety issue which I will bring immediately to an appropriate person).
  10. If I have attempted to resolve an issue with an individual within the work group without any success, I will continue to ask the other individual to work toward a resolution or I will ask that individual to participate in a discussion with a third party (a supervisor or an EAP) in an effort to resolve these issues.
