| Żeglarskie rejsy głuchych to jedna z ważnych metod jaką od 1987 r. stosują nauczyciele i wychowawcy Instytutu Głuchoniemych im. J. Falkowskiego w Warszawie. Metoda ta wzbogaca i dynamizuje proces wychowania, ułatwia i przyspiesza rehabilitację, poszerza jej zakres oddziaływując na uczestników rejsów zarówno w sferze poznawczej, psychicznej oraz społecznej. |  High-sea navigation
is unique, unconventional method of rehabilitation of
people with a hearing handicap. It has been used by the
teachers and headmasters form the J. Falkowski Institute
for the Deaf in Warsaw since 1987. High-sea navigation
enriches the process of upbringing and facilitates the
purposes of rehabilitation. It has an enormous positive
impact on the cognitive, psychological and social spheres
of the development of the participants of the cruise.
During the long-lasting journey, deaf youth take part in
all the activities necessary for the normal functioning
of the yacht: navigation, sails' attendance, deck tasks
and cooking. Such an unusual encounter with the sea
becomes an important experience for people deprived of
hearing. Participation in the cruise helps them to
develop confidence that they can engage in the same
activities as their healthy peers. It enables to overcome
a feeling of alienation and isolation, and speeds up the
process of integration with society. Sailing Adventure
for Deaf "Atlantic '97" is going to be largest
undertaking ever organized by the milieu of people with
hearing handicap. Our voyage will be comprised of a few
stages. We plan to visit several ports of North and Latin
America. It will provide a wonderful opportunity to get
acquainted with deaf people from all parts of the world.
We hope that this sailing trip for deaf will contribute
to the braking of social barriers and eliminate the
frontiers between nations. Because of the unique
character of our venture (concerning the unusual crew)
the cruise will, undoubtedly, attract considerable media
and public attention. It will, therefore, create, an
opportunity for the promotion of firms, producers and
institutions. |

Podczas wielotygodniowej żeglugi młodzież niesłysząca wykonuje wszystkie czynności niezbędne do prawidłowego funkcjonowania żaglowca: nawigacja, sterowanie, prace pokładowe, obsługiwanie żagli, przygotowanie posiłków. To niecodzienne spotkanie z morzem jest niezwykle ważnym doświadczeniem życiowym dla człowieka dotkniętego przez los. Żeglarski Rejs Głuchych "Atlantyk '97" będzie największych z dotychczasowych doświadczeń , w którym na tak wielką skalę uczestniczyć będą osoby niesłyszące. Planujemy w kilku, miesięcznych etapach odwiedzić porty Ameryki Środkowej i Północnej. Będzie to wspaniała okazja do nawiązania kontaktów i wzajemnego poznania się przez osoby niesłyszące z różnych krajów. Chcemy, aby ta oryginalna idea żeglowania niesłyszących pokonała wszelkie bariery społeczne i granice państw. Ze względu na unikatowy charakter, nadający rejsowi rangę swoistego wyczynu (zważywszy na nietypową załogę), wzbudza on zainteresowanie mediów i opinii publicznej. Stanowić będzie zatem szanse promocji i reklamy dla firm, producentów i instytucji. | |

the oldest
surdopedagogical school in Poland and one of the oldest in
Europe, founded on 23 October 1817.
"NAVIGARE PRO HUMANUM" The association comprising
teachers and headmasters from the J. Falkowski
Institute, as well as sailors and volonteers.
